The Counselling Hub Wales invites applications for a dynamic individual to join our growing team. You’ll play a crucial part of the Centre service, which is renowned for its commitment to quality and excellence in therapy and consultancy, you'll play a pivotal role in our continued success.

Contract. Employed
Hours. 22 hours per week. Part-time/term time only, Including one evening per week (evening to be agreed), and 26 Saturdays a year (dates to be agreed).

Starting in September 2024

Hourly rate: Based on experience.

Term of Contract: 3 years

Role.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate therapeutic play worker to join our team and provide essential support to children under the age of 12 through therapeutic interventions. As a therapeutic play worker, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through play.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Facilitate therapeutic play sessions for children under the age of 12.

  • Develop individualised play-based interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.

  • Create a supportive and empathetic environment that encourages emotional expression and healing.

  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for children.

  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and monitor progress over time.

  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.

Requirements.

  • Degree in psychology, counselling, social work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Creativity and a passion for working with children.

  • Proven experience working with children in a therapeutic setting, ELSA or Thrive programmes.

  • Strong understanding of child development and attachment theory.

  • Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities, such as play therapy, art therapy, or sand tray therapy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Availability to work one evening per week and every other Saturday.

  • Attend monthly supervision session

Desired Qualities.

  • Additional certifications or training in play therapy or child-centred approaches.

  • Experience working with children who have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of individual children.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions.

  • Uphold professional boundaries and safeguarding protocols at all times.

  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience when working with children facing emotional challenges.
